FAMILY MATTERS

What sets us apart

While many Veteran direct-service providers claim to offer “Whole-Life Services,” at MISSION: Boots to Briefcases, we recognize the importance of including a veteran’s immediate family into the reintegration process for total success.  This is our "distinct difference."

We Welcome Your Immediate Family

Our office is purposely designed to eliminate the need for childcare while using our services. Parents are encouraged to bring young and school-age children to appointments. We have child-sized furniture with books and games.  A student desk with laptop,  printer and Internet for homework. Tutors can be made available with advance notice free of charge.

Advocacy for Parents and Children

We offer Individual Education Plan (IEP) advocacy services for families with special needs children. This is an important service for children transferring between RI school districts or across State lines.

While an IEP is a federal mandate, States and municipalities have the authority to design their own procedures. Military families are not always prepared to debate with School Administrators or may be unaware how to challenge an IEP that may not serve the best needs of their child. Our advocates have the knowledge, professional experience and passion to help facilitate a successful outcome.
